1. Orientation
Attend a mandatory orientation session, available online or in-person, to understand the licensing process and requirements.

2. Application Submission
Complete and submit the required application forms, including the Application for a Family Child Care Home License (LIC 279), along with a nonrefundable application fee.

3. Background Checks
Undergo criminal background checks for yourself and all adults residing or working in the home. This includes fingerprinting and clearance from the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

4. Health Requirements
Provide tuberculosis (TB) clearance for all adults in the home, dated within the past year.

5. Preventive Health Training
Complete 16 hours of preventive health training, covering pediatric CPR, pediatric first aid, and preventive health practices. Training must be from approved providers such as the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.

6. Home Inspection
Home Inspection: Pass a pre-licensing inspection conducted by a Licensing Program Analyst to ensure your home meets health and safety standards.

7. Landlord Notification
If you rent or lease your home, inform your landlord of your intent to operate a Family Child Care Home.
